Each month Rochester Athletics highlights one of our athletic coaches who goes above and beyond to provide our student-athletes with a valuable athletic experience. This months coach in the spotlight is Girls Varsity Lacrosse coach Dave Hammel. Coach Hammel will be leading the girls lacrosse program for the 13th season at Rochester. He has an overall record of 117-85-10 in his time leading the Falcons. Hammel has also led the program to three conference championships (2010, 2012, and 2016), along with a regional title game appearance in 2007. Coach Hammel was inducted into the Rochester Athletics Hall of Fame in 2016.

“Coach Hammel is as good a person as you will find leading our programs here at Rochester”, commented Rochester Athletic Director Luke Beach. “He wants his teams to be really good, and he is great with instruction, but what I admire most about him is that he makes the experience for his girls one that they will never forget”, Beach added. “If my daughter is a lacrosse player in the future, I’d want her to play for a man like Dave Hammel”, concluded Beach.

Next years team will again be very strong, standouts senior Kendal Jordan and Kylie McCarthy look to lead the program to their fourth conference title overall.
