Boys Junior Varsity Golf, Boys Varsity Golf · Vance Kirkwood Takes Over Boys Golf Program

Long-time head coach Paul Marti retired last season, after a great career as the leader of the Rochester Boys Golf Program. With coach Marti exiting the program, it is very difficult to replace a coach with his experience and seasoning.

After the interview process, it became very clear that one candidate stood above the rest, Vance Kirkwood. Coach Kirkwood has spent the last several years as the Junior Varsity coach at Stoney Creek High School. Vance also coaches high school basketball at Royal Oak High School. Vance was a member and captain of the Troy High School Golf team, as well as a member of the Michigan State Golf Club.

Rochester Athletic Director Luke Beach said this about Kirkwood,”Coach Kirkwood came very highly recommended. Our Girls Golf coach Jeff Haney coached with his for a season and couldn’t say enough nice things about him. When coach Haney recommends you, that holds a lot of clout in my perspective. Vance was very energetic and excited for the opportunity to lead this program, and his vision and enthusiasm is what sold me on his ability to lead. He will be a great addition to our department, and will do great things with the program.”

Vance currently resides in Sterling Heights, Michigan, with his wife.
