The Rochester Volleyball program just finished an undefeated conference run last season, which helped them collect their first conference title in nearly two decades, but next season will see the Falcons make a jump from the blue division to the white. Rochester returns an experienced core of players, include Ryan Allor, Sydney Jones and Sam Thiessen. Rochester will welcome a new face of the program, as Sarah Steinmetz takes over for the Falcons.
“Sarah was very highly recommended, and it was clear during the interview process she was ready to lead her own program”, said Athletic Director Luke Beach. “She is very driven, and extremely organized; she has a clear vision for the program” added Beach.
Steinmetz, the new leader of the Rochester Volleyball said this, “There are so many things I have learned over the years of coaching. I have learned running your own program is a huge commitment. Not everyone understands all the little hurdles you have to overcome. I have taken the time to watch and learn from other varsity and club coaches, each one teaching me something new and helping me grow into the coach I am today. I have learned and figured out what I want out of a Program and how I want to run it. It feels very natural for me to be a head coach and it is something I am very comfortable with. I loved working at Lakeview but it was time for me to find my own home where I could start a program and run it the way I see fit. I am looking forward to the big commitment of being in the gym all the time because to me it’s more than just volleyball its making others love the sport as much as I do”.
