Game 1: Loss 12-9

Falcons Falls to Avondale After Intense High-Scoring Game. Both teams put up a bunch of runs, but Rochester fell to Avondale 12-9 on Wednesday. The Falcons got things moving in the first inning, when Megan Lorenzo singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run. The next 5 innings were held by Avondale until the Falcons put up six runs in the sixth inning. Grace Peterson, Lorenzo, and Emily Morrow all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning. Victoria Wendt took the loss for Rochester Falcons Varsity. She went three and a third innings, allowing eight runs on seven hits and striking out two. Rochester tallied one home run on the day. Morrow put one out in the sixth inning. In total the Falcons tallied 14 hits. Morrow, Kyra Shaw, Peterson, Harper Monica, and Lorenzo each had multiple hits for Rochester Falcons Varsity. Shaw and Morrow all had three hits to lead Rochester Falcons Varsity.

 

Game 2: Win 9-6

Emily Morrow was an RBI machine on Wednesday, driving in five on three hits to lead Rochester past Avondale 9-6 in game two. Morrow drove in runs on a single in the first, a groundout in the second, a single in the fourth, and a home run in the sixth. The Falcons grabbed an early lead, scoring on a single by Morrow in the first inning, a home run by Bailey Carlson in the second inning, a single by Megan Lorenzo in the second inning, and a groundout by Morrow in the second inning. Avondale knotted the game up at one in the bottom of the first inning. Rochester pulled away for good with three runs in the second inning. In the second Carlson hit a solo homer, Lorenzo singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, and Morrow grounded out, scoring one run. The Falcons added three runs in the fourth inning. Rochester’s big bats were led by Grace Peterson, Morrow, and Jenna Norgrove, all knocking in runs in the inning. Aryn Gallacher was the winning pitcher for Rochester Falcons Varsity. She went seven innings, allowing six runs on 11 hits and striking out three. Rochester tallied three home runs on the day. Carlson had a homer in the second inning. Morrow went deep in the sixth inning. Peterson went for the long ball in the fourth inning. Rochester saw the ball well today, racking up 13 hits in the game. Morrow, Norgrove, and Lorenzo each managed three hits to lead the Falcons.
